Check out our Adventure Tours Costa Rica: Ziplining with Rainforest Aerial Tram
After over six hours of traveling out of Albina, Suriname earlier in the day, I had arrived at the Browns-Mountain area near Brownsweg, Suriname. Come with me because my manual and I put off to have a out-of-this-world Surinamese grill and beer at a supermarket!

The largest lake in all of Suriname is located at Browns-Mountain. It is a lake that was made in 1964 after a dam was built. The lake covered a region that used to be a forest and filled up, so that there are a lot of trees!
The path to Brownsweg is not amazing but my buddy and guide Imro from Jenny Tours and I put off to go have dinner in the town. The meals in Suriname includes Surinamese meals, and Javanese Chinese, Dutch, African and is diverse. There is so much variety and it’s all tasty!
On our way down the muddy we spotted a boa winding its way in the shadow. There wildlife from Suriname! We hunted for a restaurant selling barbecue and drove about. We discovered a tiny hut-like restaurant selling a few. This is exactly what village life is all about!
My Surinamese barbecue meal consisted of chicken along with chips topped with ketchup and mayo. The chicken was a very black flavor. The chicken was amazing along with the peanut sauce was so amazing. It was smoky, using a flavor and crispy skin. I adored it was! It was just like sweet and sour chicken.
The chips were amazing together with the peanut sauce. I could not stop eating it! The meal was just like Southern barbecue with an Indonesian twist. The real bad thing is that it was hotter!
From there, I wished to obtain some beer. There are a lot of different kinds, including varieties from France along with a native Parbo bier. We got a Parbo and a few Atlas beers. We bought six in total! They came into a little under $8 USD. We tried them at the supermarket!
We started using the Atlas Ultra Powerful, which will be 14% alcohol. It had a different color and has been OK. It was very strong and wasn’t my favorite. The Parbo was a palate cleanser after the Atlas Ultra Strong. The Atlas was better compared to 14 percent but still not good. I was starting to sense them!
The Chiller Lime was just like a juice and has been another nice palate cleanser. Then we tried the Atlas 8.5%, which was the very best. It was light and good.
I checked out some of the clothing from the supermarket, which included camouflage shoes and hats. You can get a machete! There were clothes that folks wrap their head or neck round, and women wear as a skirt.
The man cut me a meter and a halfdozen. It just cost me $3 USD. It’d be perfect for protecting my neck! Meanwhile, we gave the rest of our beer away. We did not want its rest. I learned that there are a whopping 8,000 supermarkets in Suriname and that they’re largely conducted by the community Chinese community. They are everywhere!
I hope you enjoyed coming with me to research Brownsweg at night and also have some Surinamese barbecue and beer! If you’d like, leave a comment please give this video a thumbs up, and then subscribe to my own channel so you don’t miss some of my upcoming travel/food experiences!
